"It's Getting Hot in Here..."
Aaah... the joys of home ownership. I live in sunny freaking FL, home of the summer afternoon thunderstorm, in Tampa Bay, lightening capital of the world. Among these things, Tampa can get as hot as what I imagine the entrance to hell would be like. For past 2 days the entrance to hell has been my house.
Translation: A sista's a/c went out!
I called the repair man and it turns out that my compressor has fallen down and get up! Solution: get a new a/c unit, Price: $1750, Having that kinda loot laying around: priceless, Feeling experienced when forking over said sum of money: GUT PUNCH! OUCH.
A/C is not an option in FL, ecspecially when you have kids or pets. I have no kids but I do have pets which similar to having kids. So, I will be shelling out the loot and come Friday, my house will like what I imagine the entrance to Heaven is like. It has been very hot in here and yes, I've taken off my clothes!
Come Friday, I'll be stepping through my house, fully clothed chanting "Ice, ice baby..."

Alright, alright, alright, I'll be there Friday. Sure beats the hell out of melting into a little brown puddle. Plus, I want to go to Disney World. :P

Same thing happened to me, same price, *and* it took a couple of days to get done, and it was so hot!

i like it hot! i'm anti air conditioning at home...but then again, i have seasons up here in the north. i'm sure if i lived in a year round warm climate, i'd feel differently

heat is not fun. it takes all the restraint I can muster when my good friend starts complaining to me about how muggy it is in her house but she can't open the windows 'cause it's raining so she and her son are camped out in her bedroom where the window unit A/C is. i finally broke down the other day (after there was a 12 hour blackout in her city) and suggested that instead of buying another window unit, that she consider having a central air conditioning system installed. she seemed receptive initially. i don't know what she decided, as i jumped out of her super hot car (also w/ no a/c - I'm convinced that she's crazy) and walked into my 68 degree condo.
it won't be long now before you're doing the same.
Try to stay cool sis. Just stoping by to see what you had on your mind. I can see from your postings you're going through quite an awakening, clarity is such an emporewing force. We've probably taken a course together, if not, I'm sure we've been impacted by the same sociology teacher. I feel your struggle with the going back to school and working too, been there, still there, but enjoying every minute of it, with all its growing pains.
